Yakut national clothes are very comfortable both for hot summer and cold winter. They were mainly made of natural materials: fur, shammy, softly dressed reindeer skin, wool, silk, leather, red or black cloth. Winter clothes are made of reindeer skin, different kinds of fur and reindeer leg pelts. Men’s fur coats buuktaakh son, tangalai son are trimmed with precious fur and red broadcloth. They are very colourful. There are two kinds of high boots. Winter high boots are made of reindeer leg pelts. Trimmings richly embroidered with beads decorate woman’s winter high boots. In old times poor people wore high boots made of reindeer and cow skins without any decoration. They are very light and durable. Caps with ear-flaps made of fox paws were very popular with rich Yakuts. Poor people wore caps sewn from hare skin. Men’s and women’s fur caps decorated with “horns” were very interesting. Fur caps djabaka sewn from different precious furs with embroidered chopchuur on top look very smart. Smart woman’s dress with a jacket were embroidered with beads and decorated with ornaments, the main motives being a lyre and herring-bone pattern. The favourite colours were red and black, followed by green, brown, yellow and blue. Silver decorations are part of Yakut holiday costumes. Silver front and back decorations are very impressive. Every Yakut woman has silver ear-rings with pendants. Silver rings and bracelets are very popular too.

Yakut national clothes people usually put on when they celebrated national holidays. There are many nationalities living on the territory of our republic. Besides the Yakuts, the indigenous people are: the Chukchee , the Yukuts, the Evens and the Evenks. They all carefully support their national culture, language and traditions which have a long history. The national decorative and applied art, festive, songs, dance, music, folk epic are enjoyed by people. The main and most favourite holiday of Yakut people is yhyakh. Yhyakh is a summer festival. It is celebrated in June. It takes place on alaas (forest clearing). First, a singer sings a welcome song and sprinkles kymys over the place and the fire. Then comes a concert with a lot of traditional songs and dancing. The Yakut people like to dance ohuokhai , a giant round-dance. They sing and dance simultaneously. They call it the dance of friendship. Many sport events take place during the festival. They are: the tug-of-war, wrestling, stone-lifting, horse-racing and jumping. This holiday goes on for two or three days.

The Yakut people from the ancient times used milk , butter, meat and fish for their food/ In the earliest days of their existence the Yakut people didn’t grow any vegetables and this was a reason of using only meat and fish for their meal. There are many national dishes which came from the past. Now people use many vegetables and fruit for eating, but they don`t forget the national dishes. Very often, especially in the villages, you can taste the dishes made of whipped cream and butter. The Yakut people call these dishes chokhon and kyorchekh.
ОтветитьУдалитьMany of national dishes are made of meat of foals. The inner suet is called khaha. The boiled meat of foals is called oegos. The Yakut people also like khaan. This is the sausage made of reindeer`s and foal`s blood. The tong is made of raw frozen foal`s meat. Tong byar is a delicious dish too. This is raw liver. There are many different kinds of meat. But the most popular and delicious is so called stroganina made of raw fresh and frozen fish. The most delicious dishes are white salmon, chir, omul and silver salmon. The Yakut people bake their national unleavened scones and meat-pies sandal.
From milk they make such drinks as sorat and kymys. The national dishes are varied and if you taste these dishes, we think you`ll like them.
